The WECK preserving rings with a diameter of 120 mm are used to seal compatible WECK round-rim jars during preserving. They are positioned between the rim of the jar and the glass lid and form part of the traditional WECK sealing system together with preserving clips, which are available separately.
The pack contains ten red preserving rings made from natural rubber. They are intended exclusively for current round-rim jars with a 120 mm opening. They are not suitable for older flat-rim or grooved jars.
Suitable for WECK Round-Rim Jars with a 120 mm Opening
The preserving rings are designed for WECK jars with an opening diameter of 120 mm. Before use, check that the ring size matches the selected jar and glass lid.
A ring of the wrong size may not sit correctly between the rim and lid.
Sealing Jars During Preserving
For preserving, place the ring on the clean rim of the jar. Fit the matching glass lid and secure it with preserving clips.
During the preserving process, the ring supports the seal between the jar and glass lid. Once the jar has cooled and a vacuum has formed successfully, the clips are removed.
The preserving ring does not seal the jar by itself. A suitable glass lid and preserving clips are also required.
Preparation Before Use
Before use, boil the preserving rings for five minutes in water with a small amount of vinegar. They can then be fitted according to the relevant preserving instructions.
Jars, glass lids and rings should be clean and undamaged before sealing. The rim of the jar must be free from grease and food residue.
Intended for Single Use
According to the manufacturer, the preserving rings are intended for single use. They should not be reused for another preserving process.
Use a new, undamaged ring of the correct size each time food is preserved.
Storage Instructions
Store the rings in a dry, dust-free place protected from UV light. Do not keep them close to heat sources or at temperatures below 0 °C.
The recommended storage temperature is between 15 and 25 °C.
